Kelly Witkowski leads the Agriculture Climate Action and Sustainability Program at the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture, where she focuses her efforts on promoting a more efficient, sustainable and low-emissions agriculture, and on fostering a more active and informed participation of the agricultural sector in national and international processes related to climate change.  She is based in Costa Rica and has masters degrees in sustainable development and international affairs.

Erika Styger, PhD

Professor of Practice, Director of Climate-Resilient Farming System
CORNELL UNIVERSITY

Professor Styger is a tropical agronomist, working on agro-ecological and climate-smart methods in Africa for past 30 years, and on the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) at the global level for the past 15 years. Professor Styger developed best SRI practices with farmers, provided trainings and technical assistance in 17 countries. She was and is the co-lead in the design and technical implementation of the two scaling up projects for 13 countries in West Africa, the first project was funded by the World-Bank from 2014-2016, and the second one is funded by the Adapation Fund and will be implemented from 2023-2027, reaching at least 150,000 farmers across the region. She co-organized with Earth University in Costa Rica the first SRI regional conference for Latin America and the Caribbean in 2011, introduced SRI to Haiti, and works currently on regenerative, organic SRI systems in the USA.

Professor Jacqueline McGlade

Professor Jacqueline McGlade is Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Downforce Technologies and Professor of Public Policy and Natural Prosperity at University College London UK and Strathmore University in Kenya; previously she was the UN Environment Program’s Chief Scientist and former Executive Director of the European Environment Agency.  

Her expertise is in nature-based solutions to food security and climate adaptation and mitigation, marine plastics and oceans health, the circular bioeconomy, natural capital modelling, and intergenerational prosperity.

She is an advisor to the European and UK Space Agencies and has designed geospatial, fuzzy logic and AI applications such as Flood Ranger and SimCoast for decision-making under high degrees of uncertainty.

Dr Adnan Aminu Adnan

Agribusiness Specialist
LINKS NIGERIA

Dr Adnan is a researcher, academic and development worker based in Kano Nigeria. He works with the Climate Smart Agriculture team of LINKS, a project funded by FCDO and delivered by TetraTech in Northern Nigeria. He is actively engaged in the LINKS SRI project that is piloting the adoption of SRI by smallholder farmers in Nigeria and measuring the economic and environmental gains from such adoption.
